The poem I chose is written by no one famous. It's by a girl as normal as anyone else is with a voice that should be heard.
Angels and Demons by Kayla, Written on September 22,2007. I chose this poem because I feel the exact way she does. The innocent people of society are always stuck in this constant war between good and evil, forced to pick a side. Minds corrupted by what we think is wrong or right. There is alot of symbolism and tone in this poem.
The tone of a poem is the Voice. According to
VirtuaLit ; "The tone of a poem is roughly equivalent to the mood it creates in the reader". One of the few tones is anger. I feel anger because she is caught in the war that isn't hers'. shes the Irresponsible victim because she doesnt know what to do ,whether to stay; fight and pick a side or to go and not be apart of that insanity. The next Tones that are in this poem is Confusion and sadness. confused because, she doesnt understand why this is happening; What event in history made everyone so turbulent and brutal towards each other. Sad because in her head she is forced to pick a side. She is forced to make a rational decision . A decision that will change everything but, she won't. She refuses to be hurt in a battle that isnt hers'.
The symbol of a poem is the meaning. According to
VirtuaLit ; "A symbol works two ways: it's something itself, and it also suggests something deeper."I believe the symbol of this poem is kind of like the seven deadly sins. First one being
Wrath . Everyone in this poem feels it. She feels wrath because she's in this state of mind that she doesn't know what to do. Angry because the Angels are fighting for nothing. Furious because the Demons don't want to stop fighting. What is there left to do? Another symbol is
Pride . Demons are VERY prideful. They believe that Lucifer is going to rise and take over the world. They believe it so much that they speak the word of the devil, and doing that they express cruel actions. Always fighting with the good. The Last Symbol is
Hope. The Angels will always have hope, In the poem Kayla says," The Angels sing out, The demons they bite". This sentence says like no matter how much the angels go through they still have enough hope to keep singing and keep fighting for whats right.
You Might not see The Tones and Symbols that I stated but once you read the poem you will feel them. This poem is quiet short but it has so much meaning to it. Just think outside of the box and you will feel what I felt the first time I read the poem.
